A Water Conditioner is Part of Pinhole Prevention in Copper Pipes

A proper water conditioner also plays a role in reducing the risk of pinhole leaks in copper plumbing.  “Polyps” (the yellow cake stuff on the pipe to the right below) form on the interior of copper pipe walls, creating active sites that attract chloramines and create excessive turbulence resulting in an attack on the copper.

Yellow Polyps on the intake valve.  Note the left outtake valve is clean because it has been run through the Pure Elements Water filtration system.

The catalytic conditioner not only stops the growth of the polyps, but it has a detergent action, which draws existing polyps back into solution (effectively dissolving them).
This is the water conditioner core.  These are highly effective.

Great videos all about how water conditioners work and how they compare to water softeners.  And how they help with removing pinhole leaks in copper plumbing.  They are part of the equation because hard water helps make pinholes along with chloramines.

There is an epidemic of pinhole leaks in southern California, prominent in San Clemente (Talega), Ladera Ranch, Laguna Niguel, Aliso Viejo, and most recently Newport Coast.  Communities served by Moutlon Niguel, Rancho Santa Margarita, and Irvine Ranch Water Districts Have been plagued with leaks, primarily blamed on the water imported from Metropolitan Water District.
